A nightmare of a boss. (Spoilers)

Edit: YEEEEEEEEEEEESSS! I DID IT! I FOUGHT HIM AND I DEFEATED HIM! IT WASN'T EASY, BUT I DID IT!!! I thought I'd update this in case anyone still thinks that I'm struggling.

Warning 2: The description to this picture may be quite ranty. Nothing about personal life, but just a quick warning.

I think it's official. I've never had such a love/hate relationship for a fictional character as I do with Dreamy Bowser. Why say such a weird thing? Let me talk about it.

On a positive note, his design is badass. I've never seen such a beautiful combination of looking really dark yet really beautiful. At the same time he looks really menacing, definitely a huge threat.

Another thing I really love is how this form and Dream Team in general shows how much Bowser developed and how much of an interesting character he can be in Dream Team. He started out as just a butt monkey in Superstar Saga and Partners in Time. He was nothing more than a lesser villain that's nowhere near as big of a threat as the actual villains.
Then there was Bowser's Inside Story, where Bowser was made fun of by the villain throughout the entire game, constantly hurt and humiliated. It wasn't until late in the game where he showed his true abilities. He took down villains that are much stronger than him and should realistically be able to defeat Bowser, but Bowser won the fight and proved that he could be a great hero of the Mushroom Kingdom and his own Kingdom and appreciated as one.
But then there was Dream Team. Previously he was one of the greatest heroes. Now that he's proven how powerful he can be, Bowser can become a true villain. First it seemed like he was working alongside what seemed to be the main villain, Antasma, but then he completely betrayed Antasma and proved that he wasn't going to be pushed around by anyone anymore. Bowser is the true villain. Bowser will have all of the powers for himself.
Bowser was legitimately willing to make the Mario bros disappear from existence so he could have his way and would not give up even when the Dreamstone was shattered. He instead ate the Dreamstone shards to give himself enough power so he could make sure that the bros disappeared, and it seemed like he nearly did. So yeah, it shows great development for the character.

On the other hand, the boss is a pain in the ass! Yes, the final boss is expected to be the most difficult boss in any game and yes, I am aware that I'm not the best gamer. HOWEVER, this boss is absolutely unfair and way too challenging! It's the reason why I feel like I want to go back to Dream Team. It made me give up the game. I need to level up and/or get certain badges that will freeze the boss in order for me to try to play it and attempt to beat it.

For those who don't know how the final boss goes and don't care about spoilers, let me explain. Dreamy Bowser, like most other final bosses, is incredibly strong and has a decent amount of HP. That's to be expected, but let me explain more.
He has three different hit points. His hands and his head. The bros can only attack his head to kill him, however he blocks his head with his hands, therefore his hands need to be attacked first. His hands already have a decent amount of HP.
Once Bowser's hands are completely weak, the bros can finally attack his head. Keep in mind that in between those attacks Bowser has attacks that are incredibly powerful and can easily drain the bros HP.
So Dreamy Bowser's HP can be nearly completely drained, HOWEVER, this is when it becomes a problem. Dreamy Bowser goes into the background and lets his dreamy army fight for him. It is impossible for the bros to fight Dreamy Bowser until all of his dreamy army is killed. Meanwhile, Dreamy Bowser is eating meat at such a fast pace, meat which replenished most of his HP. By the time the army is killed, Dreamy Bowser has all of his HP and he has to be fought AGAIN. And no, taunt balls do nothing. They can't bring Dreamy Bowser back in the foreground. So yeah, he's way too difficult.

Another reason to hate Dreamy Bowser was for this picture. This picture is partly why I've been feeling down. It was really challenging. This was originally suppose to be just a doodle of Dreamy Bowser on black paper while I was waiting for someone to reply about a commission. Then I got a bit bored and wanted to include dreamy versions of the Elite Trio. I know they weren't a part of the original boss, however I thought it would have been a nice idea if they fought as stronger versions of themselves instead of just falling off the castle. Since I already drew the characters, I then thought that I might as well include a background so the picture looked less lazy.
It wasn't until colouring the picture where I came across some problems. Whenever I made any mistakes before, they were incredibly difficult to rub out, which I didn't expect since I was using pencil. Also difficult to edit online since it wouldn't be as easy to look natural when editing the look of coloured pencil. I was even struggling to think of a background that would look good. I didn't want it to look lazy, but I also didn't want it to take away from the colourful characters on this picture. So this picture literally took over a day for me to finish.
Then there was the problem of taking the picture, for two reasons. One is because I had to use coloured pencils instead of markers and of course I find it more difficult to colour with coloured pencils. The second reason is that unlike most of my picture which have a while or coloured background, this had a black background, so it was difficult to make the background as black as possible without there being white areas. Not to mention that no matter what I did, the picture always looked a bit fuzzy or the colours looked weird. Maybe in the future I'll retaking the picture when I have a better camera.

So yeah, that's everything I have to say. This picture will be uploaded a couple of days after it's been finished.
