Bowser Party- Fruits of Doom

Yes, as many of my watchers know this week is the celebration of the king of awesome and his mighty koopa crew. Yes, this is Koopa week. This started just as Bowser day which is on August 4th to represent the first time he was fought (8-4) but it also became a celebration of the Koopalings (and Bowser Jr, if you don't consider him a Koopaling).

To celebrate his greatness, Bowser is throwing a Bowser party and everyone is invited... That invite isn't an option though, it's a demand to attend the party. In this picture it's time to play one of Bowser's favourite games, Fruits of Doom. It's simple, everyone gives him the fruit he wants. But if you dare give him the wrong fruit, you'll be toast. Bowser's just about to try the fruit Luigi offered him but Luigi's too scared to wait and see if Bowser likes it so he's about to sneak away.

But now onto the picture itself. There was no way I was going to make one picture per koopa and I wasn't even sure if I was going to be able to finish a drawing, so I made a photograph with my figures. Which I find fun to do and it does make me realise how photography should be just as appreciated as a type of art as any other art.

For the figures I have this fantastic S.H. Figuarts Bowser figure. Although the World of Nintendo Bowser figure can bend his knees and elbows, this one surprisingly has really articulated hands, arms, legs and necks. They're very easy to move. He even has different mouths. However, the biggest problem with him was that he's very short compared to the other Figuarts Mario characters. He's probably Mario's height. But fortunately I do have lego Mario figures which are definitely small compared to Bowser and can be posed. The playable characters I chose are the only ones I have which are playable in Mario Party 4. Sadly no Peach. And of course I don't have Koopa Kid figures so I used a hammer bro and a koopa troopa. I do have a lego Bowser so I could have used him but I think it wouldn't have made as much sense without another one.
I also had fun making the background and props. I won't go into as much detail about them, but I used what I could find lying around the house.
But I will say this, the fruit is honestly what inspired me to make this. XD I've been eating a lot more fruit and I really like grapes. I found these really tiny grapes, so small that they would look like the size of normal grapes compared to my figures, thus making grapes look like apples or even melons. Yeah, this picture was inspired by grapes. XD
Finally the lighting of the picture. This was very difficult. I wanted the characters to be clear to see while making the picture dark enough to suit a setting for bowser. The only thing I'm not happy about is the koopa troopa on the white. I have no idea why his eyes are so bright. I tried adjusting the lighting and even when the left side of the room was darker than the right, the koopa's eyes were really bright. So this is the best I could get.

I do have two alternate pictures with alternate lighting but I'll keep them in stash for now and link them at the bottom in case anyone prefers those ones.
