Yes, I am making a sequel to this because I am now just as sick of this argument and there's not as many people defending Mario's case when treating Yoshi than there are of Mario treating Luigi and if anything the hate for Mario has gone up by Yoshi fans.
I partly see why this is the case. There aren't as many cutscenes that show much interaction between Mario and Yoshi, but this is mainly going to go against the arguments that people bring up.
First of all, the punch. Many people have brought this up before but in case anyone doesn't know, look at the official Super Mario World artwork. www.mariowiki.com/images/7/71/… Yes, the sprite limitations make it seem like Mario is punching, but this clearly shows that Mario is pointing, showing Yoshi what to eat.
Now some are going to argue that the staff at Nintendo said that they did originally intend for Mario to be punching Yoshi (which I'm not surprised made MatPat happy) but that's the thing, originally, not now. The staff realised that this was cruel and changed it. That's like calling Rosalina Peach's sister because that's what the staff originally intended.
Even if this doesn't convince you, here's the thing. This action was in Super Mario World and no other game. It could be that Mario learned how to treat Yoshi properly after Super Mario World.
Now let's talk about the other argument, Mario using Yoshi as a boost and leaving Yoshi to get dumped down a cliff. Now here's some questions, does he ever do this in cutscenes? No. Is it something that the player can't control? No. Does he react positively when this is done? No! This is not Mario doing this to Yoshi, it's the player doing this to Yoshi. By that stupid argument, I could say Mario is a klutz or suicidal because I keep making him run into enemies and jump off cliffs.
And here's the other argument, who is it that makes the jump? Is it Mario? No, he's sitting on Yoshi. So while Mario is on Yoshi, the player is controlling Yoshi. So if anything, Yoshi fucks up the jump. Now you may be asking wouldn't it be more noble for Mario to die with his companion? Possibly but it would also be stupid. Mario is a hero, he is being counted on to rescue Peach, the Mushroom Kingdom and Yoshi Island. It's either only Yoshi dies and Mario continues to go and save Peach or they both die and Peach and the other yoshis are doomed.
Hell, some people have even come up with the argument that Yoshi could be throwing Mario off his back and saving him while he dies.
Edit: Just to continue on with the previous point, in Super Mario Galaxy 2 whenever Yoshi dies but not Mario, Yoshi ends up back in his egg. So it’s easy to assume that if the leap of faith is done in SMW, Yoshi doesn’t necessarily die. Yoshi possibly has multiple lives like the Mario bros. And if anything the fact that you can find him in other levels even if you killed him in previous ones goes to show that having to “kill” Yoshi whether it be intentional or not is not a big deal.
Here's an argument relating to both cases, why would Yoshi put up with Mario if he is apparently so abusive? In the case of Mario bullying Luigi people at least bring up that Luigi's too nice and too much of a pushover but Yoshi? He wouldn't deal with that shit. He isn't a dumb animal that is trained to believe this is right, he's an intelligent creature. He downright fights Baby Bowser when he attempts to jump on him and crush Baby Mario.
Thanks to Super Mario Wiki, I discovered that there is a game where Mario helps Yoshi which people should know about, Yoshi's New Island. He doesn't interfere too much, probably in case he alters the past too much, but Mario provides Yoshi with stars and wings to make his journey easier. Why would he do that if he didn't care about Yoshi?
And one more thing, Luigi can also apparently punch Yoshi and dump Yoshi off a cliff, particularly in Super Mario World. So don't act like Mario is abusive but Luigi is a saint.

What has DA done?
It's been nine years for me. Almost ten. I've been less active in more recent times, but that doesn't mean I've wanted to leave this account completely unattended. Even if I didn't necessarily post here, I wanted to at least favourite more cool art and talk to friends. But nowadays, the DA staff have absolutely fucked over this website, and so many talented people have left that it's no longer fun to browse or post on this site. This all started with the sudden Eclipse layout. What was the point in such a dramatic layout change? Especially because the staff put so much of an emphasis on cosmetics rather than actually making a polished website. It's not the worst thing in the world, and some of the ideas I genuinely like such as the chat, banner and creating polls without core. But it started off so buggy, and some changes are still really puzzling. But now it seems like even more people are dropping off because this website is actively supporting AI art. Personally, I just saw AI
Possible upcoming art
So technically speaking I have had the time to be posting more basic art and it’s not like I’ve not been motivated. However, it was pointed out to me that the next picture I post will be my 1000th one, so I want it to be something special. At first I wasn’t sure what to do but since it’s apparently the 40th anniversary of the original Donkey Kong arcade game, I might start doing something based on that. Not sure how long it will take me but that will be my next project.
Update on Life and DA
So I haven't done this type of thing for a while but I figured I'd let people know what it's going to be like on this account. Will I be more active? Am I abandoning this account? That's probably questions some people are wondering. Well it's not a clear answer. I'm not going to completely leave DA. I'm certainly not going to close my account. However, this website also isn't a priority to me anymore. I am still doing my university course and I am really enjoying it. However, it does mean that at this point I have different prioritise. Of course, my number one priority as of these past two years and upcoming year were to finish my course work. The last term of this year got ridiculously intense in terms of meeting deadlines, I think even the teachers started realising this by the end. But if it wasn't for the deadlines, I'd actually be really enjoying the work I'm doing, and I guess I still am to an extent. It feels fulfilling to make work that seems like it could be used in the
Comments on the Bowser Fury trailer
I’ve got a lot to express about this and I want to get my thoughts out before anyone else does in case people think I copy ideas so here we go. As a whole, I’m hyped as hell. I already own the original 3D World but this is definitely going to justify me buying the Switch version, this is a lot more content. Combined with some of the other stuff like online multiplayer, it definitely justifies itself as being full price despite also being a port. To get into the details, first of all, this seems to be a huge sandbox level! I will admit I was hoping that would be the case but I was doubtful, I was wrong though! I see it as like how other open world Mario games have some linear stages like Sunshine and Odyssey, this is kind of the inverse. Second of all, Bowser Jr? That’s... interesting. I’m not hyped about his addition but I’m not disappointed either, I do like Bowser Jr. It’s rare and surprising to see him assisting Mario since the main plot of 3D World has Bowser as the antagonist.
